With year round mild temperatures and weather, San Diego is a great place to ride a bike. San Diegans enjoy riding their two wheeled, self-propelled machines along the boardwalks, around Mission Bay, or up Palomar Mountain. As there are many different types of cyclists, there are some great resources for those looking to ride a bike in the area.

The current velodrome was constructed in 1976 and is located in the Morley Field Sports Complex of Balboa Park. The San Diego Velodrome is a 333.3 meter concrete track with a maximum banking of 27 degrees in the corners.  It is owned by the San Diego Parks and Recreation Department. The San Diego Velodrome Association has a lease agreement with the City of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department, which grants the association authority, amongst other things, to limit velodrome access subject to specific requirements of the lease agreement.

Durring the racing season, the velodrome has several regularly scheduled events including adult classes, weekly races and a couple swaps.
